a little of everything. While enjoying good Duomo views across the nearby rooftops, in-
dulge in snacks and drinks at any time during the day. The menu covers many Italian
staples, reasonable salads and mains like Como lake fish with butter and sage. It's all good
but the setting makes it even better.

7-10pm Tue-Sun) The 'Corner of Silence' manages to live up to its name inside with a succes-
sion of dining rooms and a fine rear garden. Locals mix with the occasional celeb hoping
to pass off unobserved while digging into the succulent and fancily presented petto
d'anatra al pepe rosa (duck breast cooked with pink pepper). The set lunch menu for €16
is a good choice.
Ristorante Bellavista

the funicular up to Brunate to dine in this peaceful historic villa a few steps up from the
top station and with great views over the lake. The place is essentially one dining room
with an adjoining terrace for summertime al fresco dining. As in many restaurants in
Brunate, the menu reflects local traditions, with plenty of game meat in autumn and mains
accompanied by polenta.
