moon (no children under 14). Along the shore, the Coco de Mer, with 40 refurbished
rooms, a gym, tennis court, two restaurants, shops and a bar, has more of a resort feel. The
beach is average - it's shallow and tides can cause a build-up of seaweed between May
and October - but you can cool off in the pool in the shape of a
coco fesse
. All in all, a
great recommendation for unpretentious and low-key luxury.

Run by an elderly woman, this
is a homey pick with a laid-back vibe, on the northern fringes of Baie Ste Anne. There's
just one room; it's small and furnishings are a bit dated, but they get the job done. Al-
though the setting is nothing special, it's clean, the welcome is warm, the garden is blos-
soming with colours and the food (dinner €15) has a good reputation.

Not far from the jetty, this
friendly guesthouse has three comfortable, fuss-free rooms, two of which enjoy partial sea
views. The area doesn't scream 'vacation' but Anse Volbert is easy to reach by bus. Good
value.
