The initial steps will be used to set up report dynamic control layout and link the controls to
establish the capability to filter multiple chart objects at the same time in the active report. After
the report queries have been added for the chart objects, we will finalize the report by formatting
the chart objects.
Step 1: Start the Report
1.
Launch
Report Studio
and select the
GO Data Warehouse (analysis)
package.
2.
Click on the
Create new
option.
3.
Select the
Active Report
template and click
OK
.
We will be using the
Inventory
,
Product forecast
,
Returned items
, and
Sales
namespaces
inside the
Sales and Marketing (analysis)
folder.
Step 2: Insert Active Report Controls
1.
From the
To o l b o x
tab of the
Insertable Objects
pane, drag a
Data Button Bar
object
into the right table cell of the report header area (next to the report title).
The Data Button Bar control will be inserted to the right of the report title area. The con-
trol has three drop zones, for Button, Icon, and Values.
2.
Click on the newly inserted
Data Button Bar
to select it.
3.
Change the name property from
Data Button Bar 1
to
Ye a r B u t t o n s
.
4.
Right-click on the
Ye a r B u t t o n s
button bar and select the
Go To Query
option.
The query design window for the
Ye a r B u t t o n s
button bar is displayed.
5.
Change the name of
Query1
to
Ye a r s Q u e r y
.
6.
In the
Explorer
bar, mouse over the
Page Explorer
and click on
Page1
to return to the
page design.
7.
Click on the
Source
tab of the
Insertable Objects
pane and expand the
Inventory
namespace.
8.
From the
Time
dimension and
Time
hierarchy within the
Inventory
namespace, drag
the
Ye a r
level into the
Button
drop zone of the
Ye a r B u t t o n s
button bar.
Yo u r report header design should look similar to Figure 6.18 at this point.
9.
From the
To o l b o x
tab of the
Insertable Objects
pane, drag a
Ta b l e
object into the
report page body.
The Insert Table dialog box opens.
10.
Change the default
Number of columns
to
4
and the default
Number of rows
to
2
in the
Insert Table dialog box.
