Sharjah Youth Hostel$ HOSTEL

functional hostel has all sorts of different room configurations, including spacious air-con
dorms sleeping up to five in side-by-side single beds (linen provided) as well as private
twins and family rooms, some with attached bathroom. Kudos for the guest kitchen
(there's a supermarket a five-minute walk away), deductions for the location some 4km
east of the city centre. Bus 14 stops about 1km away at Al Sharq St, and a public beach is
not much further.
Sharjah Rotana Hotel$ HOTEL

puts you within a whisker of key museums and souqs. Rooms are decked out in elegant,
muted tones; snag one on the upper floors for sweeping views (and less street noise). Free
shuttles to malls, Deira and a private beach.

killer location mere steps from Al Qasba and Al Majaz Waterfront, the Golden Tulip has
newly done-up rooms and suites, many with kitchenettes. It's within the glass-fronted Al
Fardan Centre mall and has a pool and separate work-out facilities for men and women.
Coral Beach Resort$$ RESORT

with Ajman, this resort hits the mark with all sorts of travellers. Kids love the pools (one
with slides) and Kids Club; active types can hit the gym or the tennis court; and couples
can relax in the hammam or over a romantic seaside dinner. Most rooms have ocean
views, but the private beach is small and can get crowded. Wi-fi (public areas only) is
Dh150 (!) per day.
Sharjah Palace Hotel$$ HOTEL

ing over Al Mamzar Lagoon welcomes you with a Bedouin tent in the lobby. Rooms fea-
ture classic furniture and natural hues paired with a busy carpet pattern. Bonus points for
the free wi-fi throughout.
