( 06-556 8282; cnr Al Qasba & 9th Sts, behind Grand Buhaira Cinema; mains Dh30-70; lunch & dinner) The
food here is as tantalising as ever at this old-school parlour where you dine in snug, linen-
bedecked booths or beneath thatched roofs. The menu is especially strong when it comes
to fish and seafood (there's even a live tilapia tank) but all the classics are accounted for
as well.

( 06-554 0444; www.shababeek.ae ; Block B, Qanat Al Qasba; mezze Dh18-26, mains Dh35-65;
noon-11.30pm) With its deep-purple walls, black furniture and Arabic design flourishes, this
chic Lebanese restaurant channels Dubai swish but without the attitude - or the alcohol.
Portions are not huge but flavours are delicately paired and the selection way beyond the
usual hummus, tabbouleh and kebabs.

( 06-528 0095; Sharjah Aquarium; mains Dh50-75; noon-11pm) Tucked below the Sharjah Aquari-
um, this top-notch 'fishy' contender delivers the catch of day to your waterfront table with
full-on views of Sharjah's high-rise forest. Pick from the menu or ask the chef to prepare a
piece of fish or crustacean just the way you like it.

( tollfree 800 777 423; www.royalespice.com ; behind Al Diwan Al Amiri; mains Dh30-80) A wonderfully
retro vibe rules at this sprawling restaurant where the menu hopscotches from India to Ch-
ina and the Middle East without losing a step. If you're not tempted by the creamy curries
and flaky naan, perhaps the shredded duck or whole fried pompret will make your tummy
happy.
