AL NOOR MOSQUE VISITS
One of the most beautiful of Sharjah's 600 mosques, Al Noor OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP (Corniche,
east Khalid Lagoon) has gorgeous architecture and a dream setting overlooking the Khalid Lagoon. It is the only
one in the emirate that is open to non-Muslims for free guided tours operated by the nonprofit Sharjah Centre
for Cultural Communication ( 06-548 2211; www.sjhculture.com ; 10am Mon) . Tours last
about one hour and conclude with a question-and-answer session. Dress modestly, of course, and do bring a cam-
era and curiosity.

one of the most important art events in the Arab world.
Sharjah International Book Fair BOOKS
( www.sharjahbookfair.com ) Since 1981, this major regional book fair, held in November,
presents the latest tomes in Arabic, English and other languages.

new hostel occupies a beautifully restored historic courtyard building. Carved wooden
doors lead to eight clean, well-kept dorms with five or six single beds, air-con and a small
