How to Create Your Own Digital Product
In my opinion, this is what separates the big boys from most online bloggers. Once you
are selling your own product (instead of advertising other people's products), that is when
your profit margins skyrocket and you can start to make some real money. Obviously there
are people who make TONS of money with only Google Adsense or affiliate marketing
(and those are certainly easier methods for making money online than creating your own
product), but the biggest profit margins exist once you are selling your own product since
you are no longer operating as a middleman. This is why I always recommend selling your
own product as the final goal for your blog. I don't suggest you make that product until
you have a regular readership (because knowing your audience will really guide the type of
product you create), but that should be your eventual goal. Up until then, Google Adsense
and affiliate marketing is a good place to start, and then eventually affiliate marketing com-
bined with selling your own product(s), or only selling your own product(s).
Another advantage of a digital product is the fact that it is digital . You are essentially selling
a computer file. In other words, no production costs, no inventory costs, no shipping costs,
or any other headaches. When someone buys your product, the money is deposited directly
into your bank account and the customer is automatically redirected to a download page to
receive their product. It is essentially a hands free operation once it is set up.
Plus with your own digital product, you can recruit other affiliate marketers to promote your
product for you (paying them a commission for any converted sale). Essentially, you are get-
ting others to do marketing for your blog. This process of recruiting affiliates and paying
them out can also be completely automated and is discussed later in this ebook.
My best advice when creating your digital product is simply to make it the best product that
it can be. If you make a fantastic product, everything else will become much easier. It will
be easier to sell your product, have satisfied buyers recommend your product to others, and
recruit powerful affiliates to promote your product.
Note: Another great reason for interacting with your community of readers on a regu-
lar basis is that it is a great way to find out what people would want from an inform-
ational product that you create. You can figure out what kind of content they would
want you to include in your product and what problems they want solutions for. Not
only that, once you release your product, you will already have a pool of potential buy-
ers. And because you've already established a relationship with them, they will usually
