1) It produces a good overall click-through-rate (“CTR”). Remember that the more clicks
your ads get, the more money you make!
2) The setup isn't overly aggressive or spammy (which is against the Google Adsense
Terms of Service and could get you banned from the Google Adsense program). You want
a website that is balanced: it clearly has ads on it (that will produce clicks), but not so many
ads that the visitor experience is worsened because of them, or that visitors are “tricked” or
“forced” into clicking on the ads.
On these websites, I recommend the following ad sizes and placements:
1) In the top of the sidebar will go the “160x60 wide skyscraper” ad unit. Make a text wid-
get titled “Ads by Google”, and within the widget you will place the ad unit HTML code
(this is done by placing the HTML code Google gave you directly into the widget…it's as
simple as that!). This ad block will show up on your sidebar, which means it will show up
on every single page of your website. Once you do this, your ad will be live!
2) On each post of your website, there will be two “336x280 large rectangle” ad units. One
will be on the top right of your post, and the other directly beneath the post. These ads will
show up anytime someone clicks on a post of your website, and they will be visible on the
posts that are displayed on the homepage of your website as well. I will show you how to
place these later in the chapter, since the process is a little more complex.
These sizes and placements will give you excellent CTR but also keep your Google Ad-
sense account safe because the placement isn't too spammy.

Installing the Google Adsense Units on Your Website
Installing the “160x60 wide skyscraper” ad unit on your sidebar is very easy, but installing
the two “336x280 large rectangle” ad units on your posts is a little trickier.
The easiest method for setting up your Google Adsense ad blocks is by installing the “Ozh
Who Sees Ads” plugin. Go ahead and install that plugin.
Once it is installed, go to the settings of the plugin (under “settings” of your backend), and
