( 01326-251136; www.thecovemaenporth.co.uk ; Maenporth; lunch mains £10-15, dinner mains £17-25; lunch
noon-2pm, dinner 6.30-9.30pm; ) Overlooking Maenporth, this is the place for dining with a
view. Chef Arty Williams is Cornish but infuses his menu with Mediterranean flavours:
Falmouth Bay scallops with cauliflower purée, or plaice with sweet red onions and pan-
cetta. Vegetarians are also well catered for. It's just behind Maenporth Beach, 2 miles
from the town centre.

( 01326-311886; www.indabafish.co.uk ; Swanpool; mains £13-22; lunch daily, dinner Mon-Sat) Straight-
forward seafood served on a rocky bluff beside Swanpool: plump for fresh lobster and
crab, goan seafood curry or classic surf-and-turf. Portions can be small and standards vari-
able; the location's the draw.

Drinking & Nightlife
Falmouth's student crowd has ensured its nightlife has taken an upturn, but things can get
rowdy on Friday and Saturday.

PUB
GOOGLE MAP
( 01326-618474; www.beerwolfbooks.co.uk ; 3 Bells Crt; noon-midnight daily) Quite possibly the
greatest idea ever, anytime, anywhere: a pub and bookshop rolled into one, meaning you
can browse for reading material before settling down for a pint of real ale. Boutique brew-
eries such as Penryn's Rebel Brewery Co and Sussex-based Dark Star are represented at
the bar. Dangerously attractive.
Espressini

(39 Killigrew St; coffee from £2; 8am-6pm Mon-Sat, 10am-4pm Sun; ) Cornwall's best indie coffee
house, bar none. Owner Rupert Ellis cut his teeth working for the big chains, but has
branched out on his own with this bespoke venture. Indecisive drinkers beware: the choice
of blends, roasts and coffee concoctions here are enough to fill a 6-foot long blackboard.
Literally.
