Deleting a Template
If a template is no longer relevant for a site, you can delete it. You delete a template from
a site by selecting the template in the Assets panel and clicking the Delete button. When
you delete a template, the pages that were created from that template still contain the
template markup code. You must also detach the pages from the attached template to
make them regular Web pages.
To detach a page from
a template, open the
template-based page,
click Modify on the
Application bar, point to
Templates, and then click
Detach from Template.
Creating Nested Templates
A nested template is a template created from the main template so that you can create a
more defi ned structure for some pages of a site. A nested template inherits all the features
of the main template. In other words, each nested template contains the same editable
and noneditable regions as the main template and is linked to the main template. You
can add additional editable regions to the nested template, but only within the editable
regions in the main template. Any change you make to the main template affects all the
nested templates as well as any pages created from the main template and the nested
templates. Any change you make to a nested template affects only the pages created
from that nested template.
With nested templates, you maintain even greater control over the look of the pages
in a site because you further limit the choices people have when they enter content into
those pages. For example, if many pages in the NextBest Fest site had subheadings below
the page heading followed by a paragraph of text and another subheading, you could
create a nested template with an editable region for a subheading followed by an edit-
able region for text within the editable region that is designated for content in the main
template.
You create pages from a nested template in the same way that you create pages from
the main template. Any changes you make to the main template fl ow through to nested
templates.
