Previewing a Site in a Browser
Variations often exist in the way that different browsers display Web pages and even in
the way that different versions of the same browser display Web pages. For example, ele-
ments such as fonts and colors may display differently. That is why after you have started
building a Web site, you should preview it in all of the browsers that you are planning to
support. NextBest Fest plans to support both Internet Explorer and Firefox, the most com-
monly used browsers.
You can preview your Web site in any browser that is in the Dreamweaver Preview
list. You might need to add a browser to the Preview list. You should designate the two
browsers that you consider most important as the primary and secondary browsers.
Dreamweaver defaults to the primary browser when you preview your work, and both
the primary and secondary browsers have keyboard shortcuts.
To make a browser your primary browser, you check the Primary Browser check
box when adding the browser to your list. To make a browser the secondary browser,
you check the Secondary Browser check box. If you do not check either the Primary or
Secondary check box, the browser will be added to the Preview in Browser list on the
File menu, but it will not have a keyboard shortcut. These tutorials use Internet Explorer
version 8 as the primary browser.
