In-Depth Information
It's a sheltered nook so you may see algae in places, but the water's mainly clear and the
views down the bay are amazing.
In addition to a post office and store, this village harbours contenders for the titles of
best camping ground and best restaurant in the country.
However, there is a darker side to this peaceful spot. Between 1991 and 1992 around
300 Croat prisoners of war were incarcerated here. Four former Yugoslav army reservists
were subsequently imprisoned for war crimes relating to the inhumane treatment and tor-
ture of the prisoners.

Autocamp Naluka
( 032-373 101; www.naluka.montenegro.com ; campsites per adult/child €4/1, per tent/car/campervan €3.50/3/8;
May-Sep) Pitch your tent under the mandarin and olive trees and next to the stream that
bubbles out of a spring at a constant 10°C - the water's too cold for mosquitoes but per-
fect for keeping your beer cold! There are only squat toilets but the site is kept immacu-
lately by its English-speaking owner.
Konoba Ćatovića Mlini
( 032-373 030; www.catovicamlini.me ; mains €8-24; 11am-11pm) A crystalline stream flows
around and under this rustic former mill which masquerades as a humble family-owned
konoba but in reality is one of Montenegro's best restaurants. Watch the geese idle by as
you sample the magical bread and olive oil, which appears unbidden at the table. Fish is
the focus but traditional Njeguši specialities are also offered.
