Leut
(Braće Pedišić 59-61, Meljine; mains €5-18) You'll need to make an effort to find this local favour-
ite but the pay-off comes in the form of excellent Bokelj-style seafood served on a large
terrace facing the water. To get here, follow the sign to Savina at the giant Meljine round-
about and then take the first left.

KAMENARI-LEPETANE CAR FERRY
The Bay of Kotor is a very peculiar shape. The entrance is guarded by two peninsulas that shelter the first sec-
tion of the bay incorporating Herceg Novi and Tivat. The waters then narrow into a thin channel before the spec-
tacular inner bay opens up. Car ferries (car/motorcycle/passenger €4.50/1.50/free; 24hr) wend their way
across the narrowest point from Kamenari (15km east of Herceg Novi) to Lepetane (5km north of Tivat). They
depart roughly every 15 minutes (hourly after 10pm) and the journey only takes about five minutes.
The alternative, the coastal road along the bay to Kotor, is truly spectacular and should be travelled at least
once, whether by car or bus. The distance between Herceg Novi and Kotor is only 43km but it can easily take an
hour, longer if you get stuck behind a truck on the narrow winding road.
There's no doubt that the ferry is quicker for Tivat or Budva, but in the height of summer there can be hor-
rendous queues, sometimes stretching for kilometres. For Kotor the benefit is more marginal. If there are no
queues and you've already travelled the scenic route, you might consider catching the ferry and heading to Kotor
via the tunnel south of the town. You're unlikely to gain more than about 10 minutes but you will save on petrol.
Buses from Herceg Novi to Budva take both routes.

Morinj Морињ
POP 224
Secluded in the first bend of the inner bay, little Morinj is divided into gornji (upper) and
donji (lower) sections, like many of the coastal villages. The silver dome of St Petka
Church (Crkva Sv Petke) sparkles above, but the main attraction here is the pretty beach.
