information stored on the cookie is left on the client's server and is typically
a record of the user's preferences and browsing habits when using a particu-
lar website. It is possible to disable the cookie function for specific websites.

Conversion . A term generally used when a first-time website visitor is
transformed from a simple visitor to one that conducts transactions on the
site, in the form of purchases or subscriptions.
Conversion Rate . The rate of converting website visitors from well visi-
tors to shoppers.
Cost of Acquisition . A term used to describe the average amount of
money required to be invested in acquiring a potential client from an online
advertisement.
CPA (Cost Per Action). This is the amount of money paid to “partner” or
“affiliate” websites that provide links to other websites, based on the actions
taken by visitors to the affiliate website. These actions could be in the form
of clicks, downloads, subscriptions, transactions, or simply visits. Several
luxury brands use the CPA model to remunerate bloggers and social media
websites. Shhhh…
CPC (Cost Per Click). This is the remuneration of “partner” or “affiliate”
websites that provide links to other websites, based on the number of clicks
originating from the partner website.
CPL (Cost Per Lead). This is the remuneration of “partner” or “affiliate”
websites that provide links to other websites, based on the number of con-
tacts originating from the partner website.
CPM (Cost per Thousand (Mille). This is the cost attributed to an advertise-
ment based on every thousand printed copies of the publication in which the
advertisement appears.
