technology.
ASP (Application Service Provider). A system that powers functions like
online adverts or email marketing programs and provides statistics on their
results.
Augmented Reality . The use of virtual features and elements in the real
world and the integration of physical features in the virtual world (yes, it is
possible!). This means basically bringing the virtual world to the physical
world and vice versa. Holograms are a good example and the Six Senses by
Pranav Mistry is also another example. If you're still in doubt, go to Google
and type in “Tokyo Hotel hologram concert” and blow your mind away.
Auto-responder . A software that sends an automatic email to people either
as a prospection or as a response to a click or a sent email. Did this really
need explaining?
Avatar . The reproduction of a virtual human form either in 2-D or 3-D.
Avatars are generally used for online product displays and merchandising.
Background Spoofing . The practice of filling background web pages with
keywords to enable search engines like Google and Yahoo! artificially to
increase the referencing of the websites.
Backoffice . The entire support system that ensures the functioning of a
website.
Banner Advert . Online advertisements that generally appear on the top
horizontal bar or the side vertical strip of websites with a re-direction to the
advertiser's website upon clicking. They often feature images and animations
and are increasingly interactive.
Black List . This is a list of web servers identified as the originators of
“spam” emails. It is also sometimes refered to “spam detector” and enables the
automatic deleting of emails from these servers. Nearly every web and email
managing application features this service. If you don't have it you're doomed
to a life of cursing your mailbox, your computer and the invisible spammers.
Blog . In simple terms, a blog is a web journal that can be written by any-
one. In more sophisticated terms, a blog is a website that offers a record of
a person (or a company's) thoughts, viewpoints and reactions on a specific
subject or interest area. Blogs have recently emerged as the sensation of the
social web phenomenon and have become highly influential to consumers.
Bluetooth . A wireless technology that enables devices like mobile phones
or computers to receive data and voice at a short range of an average of ten
meters, from point to point.
