party people at Liberia's sleekest club, which hosts DJs and regular special nights. No
shorts or sandals for men.
Palm Spring Resort CASINO

Spring Resort in Congo Town herald live music in the bar, before the mass exodus into the
casino, where the younger generations of Liberia's political elite mingle with Russian
croupiers, curious expats and elegant ladies of the night.
Shopping
For souvenirs, visit the Guinean craft vendors opposite Mamba Point Hotel or on the hill-
top above the US Embassy, where you can strike a good bargain.
Kasawa ( 0886-698 005; www.kasawa.org ; 1st St, Sinkor) is a fair-trade initiative that brings to-
gether clothing designers and producers from Robertsport, while Jola House ( 0880-652 933;
Duport Rd, Paynesville) stocks fairly produced bags, place mats and cushions. Afropolitan (
0880-514 514; cnr Benson & Newport Sts) has a colourful range of clothing, laptop bags, purses,
souvenirs and jewellery.
German entrepreneur Manfred ( 0886-963 969) creates bottle openers and candlesticks
from old war weapons and Benjamin Somon (
077-027 751) makes chess sets from discarded
AK-47 bullets. Leslie Lumeh (
0886-430 483) sells his watercolour and acrylic paintings.
Orientation
The heart of town is around Benson and Randall Sts, and along Broad St, where you'll
find most shops and businesses. Southwest of here at Mamba Point are hotels, restaurants
and NGO offices. To the southeast is Sinkor, with more hotels, eateries and businesses. It
leads into Congo Town, Elwa junction and Red Light Motor Park.
