Vila do Bispo
(€3.15, 1½ hours, nearly hourly on weekdays)
To get to/from Carrapateira or Monchique, change at Aljezur (€3.80, 50 minutes, one to
two daily) or Portimão. Buses to Aljezur serve Odeceixe (€4.35, 1½ hours).
Renex also operates an express service from Lagos to Lisbon (€19.50); tickets are
available from the
Renex ticket office

Buses also go to Seville (via Huelva) in Spain (€21, 5½ hours, two to three times daily
Monday to Friday, more frequently in summer).
TRAIN
Lagos is at the western end of the Algarve line, with direct regional services to the follow-
ing:
Faro
(€7.20, 1¾ to two hours, nine daily) Via Albufeira (€4.75).
Vila Real de Santo António
(€5.15, 1¼ hours, 11 daily) Via Tavira (¾ hour).
Trains go daily to Lisbon (all requiring a change at Tunes; €26, four hours, five daily).
Getting Around
BOAT
In summer, ferries run to and fro across the estuary to the Meia Praia side from a
landing
just north of Praça do Infante.
BUS
Two local bus services provide useful connections around town, as well as to Meia Praia,
Luz, Odiáxere and the zoo in Barão de João. The tourist office can provide information on
the buses and their routes. Tickets cost between €1 and €2 (or buy a book of 10 tickets -
this costs less; a one-day ticket with Onda costs €3). Buses run from Monday to Saturday
between 7am and 8pm (7pm on Saturday). A few run on Sunday.
CAR & MOTORCYCLE
Drivers are advised to leave their cars in one of the free car parks on the outskirts of La-
gos (look for the large parking signs). An alternative is the underground car park on Av
dos Descobrimentos; but this road is usually congested. Street parking spaces close to the
centre are metered - watch out or you'll be wheel-clamped.
