• Allocation of decision rights and responsibilities that consider all
relevant aspects of IG. IGF shows a more complete picture that
encompasses business aspects that are usually overlooked in favor of
greater focus on technological aspects.
IGF Dimensions and Factors
The proposed IGF consists of dimensions and factors. Dimensions are the
first level of the framework and are a grouping of a set of interconnected
factors. Factors are the second level of the framework and they identify the
issues that should be addressed by a company to implement an IG strategy.
Factors are implemented by policies, practices, and actions.
The first step in assembling the IGF is identifying and defining the dimen-
sions of the framework. Three dimensions are identified: people, policies,
and technology. Figure 9.1 shows the IG subject according our vision.
The sides of the triangle bordering both the triangles of policies and
people can be considered as the enablers of an IG program. Policies and
technology provides the tools that support the program, and the conjunc-
tion between people and technology set the context for information gov-
ernance. In Figure 9.1, is possible to look at IG from different perspectives.
First, IG is implemented by policies that are defined and applied by people
