OFFLINE MAP
( 10.30am-1pm & 5-7.30pm Easter-Sep, to 10pm Jul & Aug) This sweet little bookstore doubles as a
cinema during the summer months, showing films nightly in its open-air courtyard, in-
cluding a once-weekly screening of Rossellini and Bergman's Stromboli . At the time of
research it was just ramping up to add yoga classes and a teahouse on its cosy outdoor

Orientation
Boats arrive at Porto Scari, downhill from the main town. Most accommodation, as well
as the meeting point for guided hikes, is a short walk up the Scalo Scari on Via Roma. At
the top of Via Roma is the central square, Piazza San Vincenzo, from where Via Vittorio
Emanuele continues westwards. To reach the path for the Sciara del Fuoco, follow Via
Vittorio Emanuele until you see signs for L'Osservatorio off to the left. Note that there is
no street lighting on Stromboli except in a couple of main streets and on Piazza San Vin-
cenzo, so bring a torch/flashlight.

and Milazzo (€21.45, 2¼ to three hours). There are up to eight daily services in summer,
but this falls to two a day in winter.
Siremar also runs car ferries from Stromboli to Naples (€44, 10½ hours) and Milazzo
(€15.25, six hours), as well as to Lipari (€12.40, 3½ hours) and the other Aeolians. In bad
weather the service is often disrupted or cancelled altogether, as Stromboli's dock is smal-
