During restoration, John Donaldson, the talented carver who copied all 36 Stirling
Heads for the replica ceiling, discovered musical notation secreted in the border of one
of the heads. The lady depicted in the portrait even seems to have her lips parted in
song. This beautiful harp tune, perhaps created for James V, will be playing in a new
permanent exhibition, ' Image-Makers to the King'.
