tooth will leave a good finish on the machined face. This chamfer will also de-
crease the load per tooth, allowing you to take slightly deeper cuts. Take a cut
all over the surface to be machined and then run over it again taking a shal-
low cut of perhaps a couple of thou. This should give you a good finish.
Flycutter
Another method of generating a flat surface is to use a flycutter, a single-tooth
cutter that skims right across the surface in one go. Because the flycutter has
a single tooth, it is a much lighter load on the milling machine and is much
less likely to deflect. If using a flycutter on plastic I recommend a very sharp
angle on the flycutter so it slices off the plastic rather than pushing it off.
