pass and refrain from exploring side paths; locals have gotten lost in this area.
Grassy Point HIKING
For a shorter hike, you can't beat the views over the coast from Grassy Point. The small
foot trail (about 40 minutes return) starts just past the campground. Sit for a while at the
point to look for whales and nesting bald eagles.
Sleeping
At the time of research, the old Meat Cove Lodge across from the Welcome Center had
been torn down and the owner had plans to build a new structure. Check online or ask
around starting from the 2014 summer season.
Meat Cove Campground CAMPGROUND $

grassy bluff high above the ocean out in the middle of nowhere. Four cabins with no
electricity or plumbing share the magnificent view; bring your own bedding. Be prepared
for high winds.
Hine's Ocean View Lodge HOSTEL $

own road (signposted off Meat Cove Road), has plain almost-dormitory style rooms and
a shared kitchen. Cash only.

Stop by the Meat Cove Welcome Center to get excellent information on hiking trails,
check email and grab a bite to eat (from sandwiches to lobster suppers). Leave your car
here if there's no room at the trailhead.
