This pretense-free, retro-chic bar is named for a fictitious local boxer whose image graces a
wall along with dozens of old parking tickets. Dedicated bartenders are not shy about apply-
ing their classic training to boundary-pushing experimental riffs. Cocktails aren't the
cheapest in Kreuzberg (€8) but are certainly among the best.

Prince Charles is a stylish mix of club and bar ensconced in a former pool and overlooked
by a kitschy-cute fish mural. Electro, techno and house rule the turntables on weekends. The
venue also hosts concerts, gay parties and the 'Burgers & Hip Hop' street food party. In
summer the action spills into the courtyard.

This club began as an artist squat in the early 1970s and soon evolved into Berlin's seminal
punk venue, known for wild concerts by the Dead Kennedys, Die Ärzte and Einstürzende
Neubauten. The crowd depends on the night's program: electro party, punk concert, lesbigay
tea dance, night flea market - anything goes at this long-time epicentre of Kreuzberg cool.

One of the friendliest bars in town, 'Larks & Owls' tantalises an international crowd with
get-real fairtrade java, kick-ass cocktails (thumbs up for the Moscow Mule) and other bever-
ages, all budget-priced amid fresh flowers and cosy granny-style furnishings. Smoking al-
lowed.
