This classic beer garden right in Viktoriapark gets a changing cast of characters depending
on where the hand of the clock points. Families invade in the daytime, lured by the adjacent
adventure playground. Laid-back locals catch the day's final rays on the rooftop terrace, and
wrinkle-free party folk arrive after 10pm when a DJ hits the decks.

A big portrait of Harry Johnson, whose 1882 bartenders' manual is still the profession's
'bible', keeps an eye on imbibers at this neighbourhood-adored cocktail cavern. The drinks
menu shows tiki, apothecary and classic influences. Worth trying: locally inspired modern
drinks like Berlin at Night or Kreuzberg Spritz. Happy hour: 7pm to 9pm.

Berlin's drum-and-bass temple has set up in the brick-vaulted stables of a former Prussian
regiment, but Gretchen is no one-trick pony - other musical styles, from electro to indie and
