Arriving by Air
Vantaa Airport: Tel: 200 1 4636 (€0.57/min + local network charge);
www.helsinkivantaa.fi . Location: 20 kilometers north of Helsinki, 25 kilometers
northeast of Espoo.
Airport-City Links: By bus: Finnair buses to Helsinki city center depart from Plat-
form 1A outside the international terminal every 20-30 minutes 0545-0110; journey
takes 35 minutes. Fare: €6.30. Local bus service: Operated by Sirolan Liikenne Oy;
take bus No. 615, 616, or 617 from Platform 1B between the airport and the station
square two to four times an hour; trip takes 40 minutes.
By taxi: Airport to the Central Railway Station takes 25 to 40 minutes. Fare
€45-50. Airport Taxi is a share-the-ride service. Fare: €25 for one to four persons;
€45 for five to seven persons; €60 for eight persons or private Airport Taxi.
Passengers should check in at the airport a minimum of 75 minutes before de-
parture time for overseas flights. Contact Finnair several hours before flight time to
check weather conditions at the airport. Duty-free shops at the airport are loaded
with gifts of Finnish origins.
Arriving by Train
Helsinki is served by a single train terminal, the Central Helsinki Railway Station,
which is considered one of the most famous works of Finnish-American architect
Eliel Saarinen. The terminal lies right in the heart of Helsinki and is close to
everything. The train platforms have a total of 19 covered tracks.
Baggage storage is available on the far right of the main hall entering from the
trains. Baggage lockers are available in various sizes at a standard charge.
There is also a Left Luggage office on the left-hand side arriving from the trains.
