a room with a harbour view and, unusually, this includes some single rooms. Guests have
access to a private gym, and bills from some restaurants around town can be added to your

Opened in 2008, the
Myhregaarden is Stavanger's most stylish hotel and has a far more personal touch than
most chain hotels. The completely refurbished early-20th-century building, where Thor
Heyerdahloncehadanoffice,hassomeoriginalfeatures,butthecontemporaryroomshave
soothing colour schemes and all but five have chandeliers and fireplaces; those without
have original wooden beams. It's aimed at a business clientele, hence the great disparity in
prices, but it's wonderful value on weekends.

This quiet but
popular place comes highly recommended by readers and it's not hard to see why. The
simple rooms are tidy and come with satellite TV, shower and a smile from the friendly
owners. Packed lunches are available for a bargain Nkr40, and at 9pm nightly, free coffee,
tea and waffles are served.

centrally located place, opposite the old customs house, has a more personal feel to it than
