Aligning Backdrop Images
After placing the backdrop images, you will need to align them. Most elevations need some slight adjust-
ment to their positions in order to line up perfectly with each other. The quickest way to align them is to
create a blocked-out version of the model by using two of the images and then align the remaining two im-
ages to the geometry. The geometry created for alignment also serves as the basis for the general blocking
of the rest of the model. To align the backdrops, you will need to follow these steps:
1. Set two visible viewports to the front and left views.
2. Use the Cube tool to create a box that covers everything on the ground floor of the model (this should
be a simple cube that goes from wall to wall and from the ground to the top of the first level of the
structure).
3. Switch the viewports to show the back and right views.
4. Select the Back Backdrop Item and use the Move tool to align the image to the geometry.
5. Use the Move tool to align the Right Backdrop Item. When completed, your references should be
aligned as shown in Figure 10-3 .
