Just as with reflection, all transparent materials are not clear. The appearance of fogged glass (or other
transparent materials) can easily be created with Refraction Roughness. Because there is only a single aspect
of transparency (unlike the relationship of reflectivity and specularity), the roughness setting is automatic-
ally enabled when any percentage is set. Care should be taken with the amount here, as high settings will
completely obscure any transparency. Figure 6-42 shows a setting of 10%. Blurriness also increases with
thickness. Higher settings require additional calculation time as well, because additional refraction rays are
then required to create a smooth appearance. Figure 6-43 has the rays increased to 128 (from the default of
