5. Enable a Cylinder falloff and to set the Axis to Z.
6. Enable the Move tool (W) and move the selection forward about 50 mm.
7. By default, the shape preset for the falloff will be set to Linear. Change this to Ease-In to create the
rounded shape of the lens.
This method for creating rounded sections can be used in many instances and works well with any num-
ber of radial edges. This is also an excellent method for creating rounded sections on models using subdivi-
sion surfaces because the same effect is achieved even when using fewer edges.
At this point, it would be beneficial to create your textures. Select the lens polygons and apply a new
material. Then invert the selection and apply a material to the rest of the light body. Any additional polygons
attached to the body of the light will hold the new texture. Now move to the bottom of the cylinder and
select six polygons on either side of the middle. Hold Shift while pressing the up-arrow key twice to create
a rectangular section (as shown in Figure 5-34 ) .

This selection will form the foundation for the attached box of electrical components.
1. Start by beveling it with a Shift of 20 mm.
2. Hold the Shift key and click to initiate a second bevel.
3. Select the Move tool (W) and drag the selection downward 150 mm (on the y axis).
