Creating the Bottle Cap
There are various ways to create a proper cap for this bottle. However, to ensure a direct match to the interior
geometry, it is preferable to use existing geometry as a starting point:
1. Start by selecting two polygons that run around the outer edge of the lip.
2. Press the L key to select the entire loop. Holding Shift while pressing the left-arrow key will select
more polygon loops toward the interior of the bottle. Continue until you have reached the appropriate
depth for the inner section of the lid. Copy these polygons (Ctrl/Command+C), double-click the bottle
to select all of the polygons, and press the H key to hide it.
3. Paste in (Ctrl/Command+V) the previously copied geometry and then press the F key to flip the
polygons.
4. Use the Push tool (in the Deform section) to shrink the new geometry very slightly (this prevents
overlap in the polygons).
5. Go to Edges mode and double-click the outer edge of the new geometry to select it. Use the Edge
Extend tool (Z) to create new polygons extending upward from the existing edge. Just as with other
tools (for example, the Bevel tool), holding Shift and clicking in the viewport creates a new edge ex-
tension without dropping the tool. Extend the geometry upward to the desired height and then press P
to create a polygon at the top. Double-click the bottom edge of this piece and press the P key again to
fill this open edge with the polygon.
