In-Depth Information
Thus, there are the prerequisites for biofuel application in Ukraine, in particular,
by means of the diversifi cation of the output production of sugar beet industry.
The competitiveness of bioethanol production using the output of sugar beet pro-
cessing depends on several factors: the prices of sugar beets, the quality of the pro-
cessed products of sweet roots, and the technology of its manufacture.
In Ukraine, the price of sweet roots affects the competitiveness of bioethanol pro-
duction from the sugar beet processing products signifi cantly.
Thus, when the price of roots was $42.3/t, the cost of bioethanol production was
$1316.1/1 t ($1.04 per 1 l). By raising the price of the sugar beet by 51.5 percent to
$64.1/t, the cost of bioethanol production was $1566.1/1 t ($1.24/1 l) or increased by
19 percent (Table 22.5).

The similar dependence is observed when bioethanol is produced from the molas-
ses in Ukraine (Table 22.6).
