When the price of molasses increases by 27.8 percent—from $71.1 to 90.9/t, the
cost of bioethanol production will increase by 9.4 percent—from $890.9 to 974.3 per
1 t, or $0.7-0.76 per 1 l.
These research studies have shown that provided the molasses is not a commodity
and in turn it has no price, and sugar refi neries process it into bioethanol, then its cost
of production will decrease signifi cantly.
In addition, the combined production of sugar for the consumer market and bio-
ethanol from the molasses enhances the competitiveness of the sugar beet industry
enterprises considerably. Thus, when the price of sweet roots is $53.8/t, the factory can
produce sugar by the price of $698.5/t and bioethanol from the molasses—$934.7/t;
however, if it produces only sugar or bioethanol from sugar beet, then the gross in-
come will signifi cantly reduce. The similar correlation is observed when the price of
sugar beet is different (Table 22.7).
