Furnishings
Although you probably aren't looking for much furniture while on vacation, Indigo (149
Hana Hwy., 808/579-9199, www.indigopaia.com , 10am-6pm daily) is still an eclectic and
fascinating store that also has a large displays of photography, rugs, and jewelry from the
owner's travels all over the globe. There are heavy Asian and African influences in a lot
of the pieces. If you're always on the hunt for intriguing international souvenirs and crafts,
this is where you're going to find them.
ROAD TO HANA
Gifts and Souvenirs
The best place to do any real shopping along the Road to Hana is at Nahiku Ti Gallery
(mile marker 28.7, 808/248-8800, 10am-5pm daily), a small gallery within the Nahiku
Marketplace. This curious “strip mall in the jungle” is already strange enough in that it of-

the fact that there's an actual art and souvenir gallery that rivals any you might find in the
tourist enclaves of Ka'anapali or Wailea. While nowhere near as large as the south shore
shopping venues, the Nahiku Ti Gallery still has a varied selection of jewelry, crafts, paint-
ings, pottery, and a surprising collection of art you wouldn't expect to find in this part of
the island.

Hana Hwy., 808/248-8636, www.hanacoast.com , 9am-5pm daily) could be the nicest art
gallery on the island. A freestanding building within the Travaasa Hana hotel, the Hana
Coast Gallery features fine works by Hawaiian artists and is a must-stop for anyone who
appreciates fine art. Everything from oil paintings to ceramics and wooden sculpture is on
display in this sophisticated space, and the depth of knowledge of the staff on the intrica-
cies of individual pieces provides an educational component to this fine art experience.
Gifts and Souvenirs
Within the same complex as the post office and the Hana Ranch Restaurant is the small
