To architect, if clerk of works instructs operatives direct
Dear
May we draw your attention to an unfortunate situation which is developing
on site? The clerk of works, with whom we have had the most cordial
relations, is getting into the habit of giving oral directions to our operatives on
site even going so far as to reprimand some of them for poor workmanship.
We very much value all the comments of the clerk of works, provided that
they are addressed to the person-in-charge/site manager [ delete as appropriate ].
The present situation is causing, as one might expect, a degree of disruption as
we have to waste valuable time smoothing ruffled feathers. We have spoken to
the clerk of works informally, but to no effect. We are anxious to avoid tension
on the site, which would be in no one's best interests and we should be
grateful if you would deal with this matter tactfully as soon as possible.
Yours faithfully
