WLC Config Analyzer (Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers)

Another tool developed by a Cisco Wireless Engineer, Javier Contreras Albesa, is the WLC Config Analyzer. It is located at the Cisco Support Wiki at http://tinyurl.com/45jvph.

The goal of this tool was to save as much time as possible while processing long and related WLC config files. You can use this tool to detect basic configuration errors. The WLC Config Analyzer has a database of more than 100 checks (small expert system), with rules to validate issues that have generated Technical Assistance Center (TAC) cases in the past. You can disable or adjust all rules to evaluate the environment. Some of the features are as follows:

■ Quick summary of a group of WLCs

■ Analysis of the radio frequency (RF) relationships between APs

■ Relationship summary between APs: which AP can see neighbor APs() and at what level for a given AP (Seeme)

■ Text file with sh run-config output from one or more controllers (up to 24 in a single file)

■ Assumption that all WLCs in the config file belong to the same mobility group

■ Simple implementation; nothing fancy to store the processed results

■ Ability to work offline on controller configurations.

■ Audit voice settings

■ Offsite RF analysis tools

Remember that this is not management software, but a post-deployment support tool. It is also not a TAC supported tool. Support is on best effort at wlc-conf-app-dev @cisco.com.
