PENNSYLVANIA 1937
With the St. Patrick's Day Flood of March 1936 still fresh in the public's memory, Pittsburgh
again faced the threat of flood in January 1937 when the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers
began rising. Flood stage at the famous point where the two rivers join to form the Ohio
River is 24 feet. Quickly the water reached 25 feet and was still rising. Pittsburgh residents
feared the worst and began preparing for another watery onslaught.
