In March 1933, the Ohio River again left its banks. Here is a view of the inundated Ches-
apeake and Ohio Railway (C&O) Freight Station in Huntington, West Virginia. The station
stood little more than a stone's throw from the Ohio River in the city's downtown and so
was frequently flooded. A familiar white cross-armed sign marks a railroad crossing, but
the only traffic moving today will be by boat. (Courtesy the C&O Historical Society.)
