bacteria X3 increase in biophase yield more iron hydroxide into divalent
iron in the lower layer.
The model describing the groundwater quality in a coastal aquifer
was studied through the comparisons with the experiment by the one-
dimensional column of alluvial soil. The model calculates the mass transport
and cation exchange and bacteria-mediated biochemical reducing processes,
specifically the main focus was put on the inclusion of reduced divalent man-
ganese and iron ions into the cation exchange reactions. The approach was
considered useful to predict the reduced level of the seawater in a coastal
aquifer. The applicability of the present approach needs to be calibrated in
the field.
