extremely valuable tools for future information dissemination, implementation, and
lagoon management as the ILSMP now becomes integrated into the various aspects
of the social and economic systems of the lagoon area.
8.9
CONCLUSION
This chapter has presented factors to consider and suggested a process to employ in
the decision-making process of developing a DSS to use for sustainable lagoon
management. The process is as important as the product of an ILSMP, and the
intangible goals and results can be as beneficial as the tangible ones. The ILSMP
represents a document that directs implementation, measures progress, and enforces
accountability. It represents the collective thinking of a diverse group of participants
