10.4. A disaster scenario
Figure 10.4 shows a scenario of solar activity which could lead to a
different type of climate disaster, prompting a return to the little ice age. In a
small number cycles, solar activity reaches the level of the 1700s, known as
the Maunder minimum.

Graph (a) in Figure 10.5 shows simulations of the identified model under
the constraint S clin > 0. In some cases, the fall in solar activity initially has
the greatest influence, then the rise in CO 2 is able to reverse the trend, thanks
to a positive climate sensitivity.
