In-Depth Information
*Just across the street from Banqueting House. Use the pedestrian crossing then walk
through the tunnel in the middle of Horse Guards, but not before getting a few photos next
to one of England's famous statuesque soldiers.*
After walking through the tunnel in this building from Whitehall to Horse Guards Road,
you'll be amazed at the open space on the other side. Built in 1753, Horse Guards has
served as headquarters for two major army commands since 1906, London District and
Household Calvary.
In the tunnel here, you can photograph a very typical London shot, kissing or doing funny
things to guards that won't budge. Only the Queen is permitted to drive through this tunnel,
so you'll just have to walk. Household Calvary Museum is located on the other side of the
tunnel.
Adult admission is £6.00. Hours: Daily, 10am-6pm (April-October) and 10am-5pm
(November-March). Website: www.householdcavalrymuseum.co.uk .
Horse Guards has its own changing of the guard starting at 11am Monday to Saturday and
10am on Sunday. Unfortunately, the timing is too close to make both this and the Changing
