In-Depth Information
Starting with Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.2), HAIP is installed by default as part of the Grid
infrastructure configuration. Figure 3-2 illustrates the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) screen that allows configuration
of one or more private interconnects. As part of the installation when root.sh script is executed, Oracle configures
the HAIP resource. However, unlike the previous versions of RAC, the private network is not registered or managed
directly in the Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR) file but added to the Grid Plug and Play (GPnP) profile on every server in
the cluster. The OCR maintains information as to where the GPnP profile is located.

GPnP Profile is an xml file located in $GRID_HOME/gpnp/<hostname>/profiles/peer directory. Figure 3-3
illustrates the output of the xml file viewed from a browser.
