Neuquén's hotels mainly cater to the business set. Overall, the hotels are fairly unexcit-
ing in all ranges and less than great value for budget travelers.

Neuquén's best hostel is a good deal - it's well set up with comfy dorms, spa-
cious lounge and a good garden area.

Roca 109; s/d AR$420/630, superior AR$800;

One of the smaller hotels in town is also one of the best looking. If rooms had just a
little more panache you'd be tempted to call this a boutique hotel. Rooms are modern,
but vary widely - generally those at the front are more spacious.

There
are a few charming touches in the spacious, tile-floored rooms here. Some are showing
their age these days, but most have good views out over the busy street below.
Eating & Drinking
The many
confiterías
along Av Argentina are all pleasant spots for breakfast and morn-
ing coffee. There are numerous bars and
confiterías
in the area north of Parque Central
and around the meeting of the diagonals.
Tres Catorce

(9 de Julio 63; mains AR$60-140; 12pm-1am Tue-Sun; )
Neuquén's dining scene has im-
proved considerably over the years, with this casually stylish eatery at the forefront. On
offer are carefully prepared dishes, thoughtful garnishes and a small but well-selected
range of boutique wines.
