bar, a casino and shops. Rates depend on time of the season, and are based on double oc-
cupancy.
Getting There & Away
There is a bus service operating in season from Mendoza (AR$130, 6½ hours), San Ra-
fael (AR$60, three hours) and Malargüe (AR$35, 1½ hours).

South along the Ruta Nacional 40
From Malargüe the RN40 winds its way through rugged desert landscapes and into
Neuquén province. Despite what many will tell you, there is public transportation along
this route. Transportes Leader runs minibuses between San Rafael and Buta Ranquil
Sunday to Friday, stopping in Malargüe. From Buta Ranquil there are connections to
Neuquén and Chos Malal, but you may get stuck for the night. There's no real reason to
