(Av Belgrano 1191; mains AR$75-120; 9am-midnight) Delicious, innovative dishes in a re-
laxed environment. Each dish comes as a full meal (some with side orders of vegetables)
and there's a small but respectable wine list.

( 0261-429-4200; Av Sarmiento 765; mains AR$110-160; 12-3pm & 7pm-1am Mon-Sat) It's
hard to figure out what's the bigger draw here - the rustic-chic decor, the small but creat-
ive menu or the extensive wine list. Who cares? Enjoy them all.
Drinking & Nightlife
For a great night on the town, walk down Av Arístides Villanueva, where it's bar after
bar; in summer, entire blocks fill with tables and people enjoying the night. On the other
side of town is the Tajamar, which is similar, but more laid-back and bohemian. This area
is your best bet to hear live music.
Wine is available pretty much everywhere in Mendoza (right down to gas stations),
but there are a few places that are considered specialists.
Finding a dance floor generally means abandoning downtown for one of two areas: the
northwest suburb of El Challao, or Chacras de Coria, along the RP82 in the southern out-
skirts. The former is reached by bus 115 from Av Sarmiento. Chacras de Coria is reached
from the stop on La Rioja between Catamarca and Garibaldi by taking bus 10, interno
(internal route number) 19, or from the corner of 25 de Mayo and Rivadavia by taking
bus 10, interno 15. In both cases simply asking the driver for los boliches (the
nightclubs) is enough to find the right stop. The nightclubs in both El Challao and Chac-
ras de Coria are all right next to each other, and you can walk along to take your pick
from the ever-changing array. La Guanaca (Ruta Panamericana s/n , Chacras de Coria;
10pm-5:30am Fri & Sat) was the hot club out here at the time of research - with a bit of luck
it may still be going by the time you arrive.
Many visitors to Mendoza (and mendocinos for that matter) find the effort involved
getting to these places far outweighs the fun they have while there, often opting for the
smaller bars along Av Arístides Villanueva. One exception is La Mala (Escalada 2273; ad-
mission AR$20-33; 11pm-late) , in the Tajamar nightlife precinct. It gets a good crowd
and was the hottest club around at the time of writing.
