(Lavalle 660; mains AR$40-80; 6pm-midnight) Art on the walls, regular live events and a
comfortably attractive evening ambience are allied with highland ingredients of good
quality here. Delicious tamales and pleasingly honest stews take their place alongside
tasty llama and beef with sauces and homemade pastas and pizzas. Service is caring.

Getting There & Away
The bus terminal is on the main street, Belgrano, but more services stop at the main road
junction. There are services roughly every 45 minutes to Jujuy (AR$27, 1½ hours), and
north to Humahuaca (AR$13, 45 minutes) and La Quiaca (AR$62, 3½ hours). Several
services daily hit Purmamarca (AR$6, 30 minutes) and Salta (AR$99, 3½ hours).
Around Tilcara
Maimará , 8km south, is a typical adobe valley settlement set beneath the spectacular and

accommodations and a winery.
Part of a chain that ran from Lima to Buenos Aires during viceregal times, Posta de
Hornillos (admission AR$5; 8:30am-6pm) is a beautifully restored staging post 11km
south of Tilcara. The interesting exhibits include leather suitcases, some impressively
fierce swords and a fine 19th-century carriage.
