Getting There & Away
At the time of research, train service from Buenos Aires to Posadas had been suspended.
AIR
Aerolíneas Argentinas (
442-2036; Ayacucho 1724) flies daily to Buenos Aires.
BUS
Buses to Encarnación (AR$10), Paraguay, leave every 20 minutes, stopping at the corner
of San Lorenzo and Entre Ríos. With border formalities, the trip can take more than an
hour, but is usually quicker.
Everyone gets out to clear Argentine emigration. The bus may leave without you; hang
onto your ticket to catch the next one. The same happens on the Paraguayan side. There's
a tourist office by Paraguayan immigration, and official moneychangers hanging around.
Get small denominations: a 100,000 guarani note is hell to change.
Posadas' bus terminal can be reached from downtown by bus 8, 15, 21 or 24
(AR$3.50). It's around AR$50 in a taxi.
Bus services to San Ignacio (AR$24 to AR$31, one hour) depart roughly half-hourly.
