Perfect for combining with a visit to the nearby Museo
Municipal de Bellas Artes, this enchanting cafe-bookshop-gallery occupies a beautiful
house that has stained glass and an enticing patio. Innovative food, good breakfasts, cof-
fees and juices make this one of Rosario's most relaxing spots.
Pasaporte
CAFE, BAR
(cnr Maipú & Urquiza; 8am-late Mon-Sat; )
Sublimely cozy with a pretty terrace and
timeworn wooden furniture, this is a favorite for morning coffee with workers from the
customs department opposite. But it also has a great evening atmosphere, particularly
when the rain's pouring outside.
El Cairo

4pm-1am Sun; )
High-ceilinged and elegant, with huge panes of glass for people-watch-
ing (and vice versa), this classic Rosario cafe is good at any time of day, but especially in
the evening, when it mixes a decent cocktail and puts on good Argentine pub grub. This
is also one of the rare places that serve
mate
(a bitter ritual tea).
La Sede
CAFE
(

;
Entre Ríos 599; 8am-midnight or later; )
In a striking modernist
building, this is a very Argentine cafe with a literary feel and art exhibited on the walls.
Come here to read a book, enjoy the draft beer, cakes and quiches or, at weekends, catch
an offbeat live performance in the cozy downstairs space.

You can
smell the malt at this brewpub, where the delicious ales are produced right beneath your
feet. It's a fine place to start exploring this bar-rich nightlife zone, and it also does a
handy line in quesadillas, burgers and salads. The roof terrace is good on a warm even-
ing. It's northwest of the city center, near the train station.
