Potions
7. Consider the Nether. This is very risky, but there are also massive benefits if you sur-
vive. The Nether will put you away from most other players, who will be scared to venture
there, and it will give you the opportunity to collect Blaze Rods and Nether Wart to make
potions. However, do not go to the Nether if you are not very, very good at surviving in it,
and never go without at least Iron Armor, a Bow and an Iron Sword, if not better gear.
8. Be sneaky and vigilant at all times. Many players in UHC get killed simply because
they were focusing too much on resource hunting and gear crafting and they didn't notice
that someone was sneaking up on them. Make sure you're scanning your surroundings for
other players at all times, and try to stay out of sight or underground whenever possible.
Also, use the darkness trick to see other players' nametags: dig a hole or place blocks on
all sides of you so that you are in total darkness, then look in every direction. If there is any
player near you, you'll see their nametag. Beware though: other players use this trick, so if
you think someone might be looking for you, go into sneak mode with the crouch key. This
hides your nametag, allowing you to remain safely hidden.
9. Pay attention to coordinates. It's a good idea to keep your coordinates up and watch
them at all times. This is because you want to know where you've been in order not to go
over the same area repeatedly, and so you know where you are in relation to the center of
the map. The center is where players will most often have to pass through, making it the
most dangerous area as well as the best hunting grounds. This strategy is especially import-
ant for matches with shrinking maps.
