the more comfortable by the wood-and-brick interior. The wine list is long on area vine-
yards. Locals rave about lunch.

street offering earthy, elegant varietals of the region. Placerville's bars, on the other hand,
are akin to the neighborhood watering holes in the Midwest: they open around 6am, get an
annual cleaning at Christmas and are great for people who want to chew the fat with a col-
orful cast of locals.
